Position: Research Assistant Professor (Temporary Faculty)

Department: Institute of Southern Studies, College of Arts and Sciences
Salary: $70,000 per annum
Employment: Full‑time, 40 hours per week with flexible schedule
Job Responsibilities
- Teach two undergraduate courses per semester: “Introduction to South Carolina” and “Introduction to the American South”.
- Serve as content coordinator, scheduler, and assistant producer for the “Take on the South” podcast.
- Coordinate and enhance the Institute’s social media presence.
- Generate student and community interest in the Institute’s digital initiatives.
- Support development and demand for the Institute’s Minor in Southern Studies.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in the humanities or social sciences with demonstrable teaching experience in the U.S. South.
- Administrative experience within an academic setting.
- ABD candidates may apply if Ph.D. is conferred before the start date.
