Hartmann Young is partnered with a leading global nutraceutical CDMO to recruit an experienced R&D Manager for its Florida site.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong R&D professional to lead innovation and product development across a broad portfolio of dietary supplements. Working closely with Commercial, Quality, Regulatory, Procurement and Manufacturing, you will take ownership of the development process from customer brief through to commercial launch, ensuring products are innovative, compliant, manufacturable and delivered on time.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role with significant customer interaction, ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex formulation challenges while helping customers bring new products to market.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of new dietary supplement products across capsules, tablets, powders, gummies, softgels and other dosage forms.
- Partner directly with customers to understand formulation objectives, cost targets and technical requirements.
- Develop innovative formulations using vitamins, minerals, botanicals, probiotics, sports nutrition and specialty ingredients.
- Oversee product reformulations, line extensions and continuous product improvements.
- Work closely with Manufacturing to ensure products can be successfully scaled from bench to commercial production.
- Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs to ensure compliance with FDA and dietary supplement regulations.
- Partner with Quality teams on ingredient selection, stability programmes and product specifications.
- Evaluate new raw materials, technologies and ingredient innovations to maintain a competitive product offering.
- Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities across existing product lines.
- Act as the technical expert during customer meetings, supporting the Commercial team throughout the sales process.
- Manage multiple customer development projects simultaneously while delivering against challenging timelines.
- Drive innovation initiatives and contribute to the company's long-term product development strategy.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
- Significant R&D experience within a dietary supplement or nutraceutical CDMO environment.
- Strong formulation expertise across multiple dosage forms including tablets, capsules, powders, gummies and softgels.
- Excellent understanding of ingredient functionality, manufacturing processes and product stability.
- Working knowledge of FDA regulations, cGMPs and dietary supplement compliance.
- Experience supporting customer-facing development projects from concept through to commercial launch.
- Strong project management and cross-functional communication skills.
- Able to balance technical excellence with commercial awareness in a fast-paced CDMO environment.
