Remote Prior Authorization Pharmacy Technician
Location: Remote (U.S.)
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday
- Training: 8:00 AM–4:30 PM CT
- Production: 10:00 AM–7:30 PM CT
Pay Rate: $20.00/hour (W2)
Type: Contract (long-term)
About the role
We’re hiring Remote Prior Authorization Pharmacy Technicians to support a high-volume prior authorization environment. In this role, you’ll handle inbound requests and provide professional, courteous support while ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with required guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Handle inbound calls from providers, pharmacies, and members related to prior authorization requests
- Accurately document reviews and maintain timely, complete records
- Escalate clinical questions and judgment calls to the pharmacist team
- Support additional work as needed, including outbound calls, fax/ePA processing, and monitoring shared mailboxes
- Communicate clearly with internal teams regarding determination status and next steps
- Maintain strict confidentiality of PHI and follow all applicable privacy standards
Required qualifications
- Verifiable High School Diploma or GED
- Strong communication and phone skills (professional, courteous demeanor)
- Ability to multitask across multiple systems and applications at once
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word/Excel; other Office tools a plus)
- Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation habits
- Willingness to work mandatory overtime/extended work week as needed
Preferred qualifications
- Prior experience in a call center, healthcare, pharmacy, PBM, or customer service setting
- Pharmacy technician license or national certification (preferred, not required)
Remote/work-from-home requirements
- Ability to work independently in a private workspace
- Hardwired internet that meets minimum requirements (speed test proof may be requested)
