Position Details

Job Title: Remote PBM Prior Authorization Pharmacy Technician | Pay: $20 an hr | Job Type: Remote | Shift Options: Prefer candidates from the West Coast – much work late shift; hours Mon‑Fri 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. (8.5 hr shift with 30 min lunch) CST; Training M‑F 10‑6:30 p.m. CST for approx. 5 weeks.

Overview

Remote PBM Prior Authorization Pharmacy Technician who takes inbound calls from providers, pharmacies, members, etc., providing professional and courteous phone assistance through the criteria‑based prior authorization process. They maintain complete, timely and accurate documentation of reviews and transfer all clinical questions, escalations and judgement calls to the pharmacist team.

Responsibilities

• Taking inbound calls from providers, pharmacies, members and other stakeholders.
• Providing professional and courteous phone assistance using the criteria‑based prior authorization process.
• Maintaining complete, accurate, and timely documentation of all reviews.
• Transferring all clinical questions, escalations and judgement calls to the pharmacist team.
• Making outbound calls as required.
• Reviewing and processing prior authorizations received via fax and electronic prior authorization.
• Monitoring and responding to inquiries via departmental mailboxes.
• Completing other duties as assigned by the leadership team.

Qualifications

• Prefer candidates who live on the West Coast of the US.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a high‑volume call center with healthcare or PBM/ prior authorization experience preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and coding.
• License or certification acceptable.
• Pharmacy Technician license with no restrictions and must be active.
• National pharmacy technician certification or state licensure per regulations.
• Advanced computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet utilization.
• Excellent written and verbal customer service skills.
