To support Veterans Affairs medical centers, the full-time Remote Medical Coding Auditor will conduct external coding audits, focusing on accuracy and compliance for inpatient and outpatient services, while providing training to VA coding staff and clinicians. Key responsibilities Audit coded data for accuracy and compliance across various coding areas, including inpatient and outpatient services Classify errors and prepare detailed audit reports, highlighting financial impacts and areas for improvement Develop and lead training sessions for coding staff and healthcare providers based on audit findings Required qualifications An active RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or CPC-H credential At least 3 years of experience in auditing records for large healthcare organizations Minimum of 3 years of education and training experience in coding Completion of an accredited coding, HIM, or health information technician program Expertise in ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS, and related coding guidelines
