Mechanical Engineer (PE) – Drive the Net-Zero Revolution!
Location: Lenexa, KS or Centennial, CO (Hybrid or Remote)
Job Type: Full-Time
Travel: 10-20% travel required
Anticipated Compensation: $130,000 - $160,000 (including performance bonuses)

Existing buildings account for 40% of the world’s carbon emissions. We don’t just manage construction—we are revolutionizing the way projects are delivered. We are an engineering-led design-build firm specializing in turnkey facility improvements that transform aging, energy-draining structures into high-performance, net-zero environments. We’ve broken down the traditional silos between engineering, construction, and commissioning to eliminate finger-pointing, delays, and cost overruns.

As a Mechanical Engineer at Millig, you will join a rapidly growing team of the best engineers in the country, designing systems to make buildings healthier, safer, and more energy efficient for major universities, international manufacturers, state governments, and school districts. Because we are a true design-build firm, you will have the unique opportunity to directly support your MEP designs as they are built. Our focus is always on quality and project success— not billable hours.

We are looking for a creative, practical, and highly proficient Mechanical Engineer to design ground-up and retrofit HVAC systems, support decarbonization planning, and develop comprehensive facility improvement projects. Spearhead the design and development of MEP systems for diverse building projects. Prepare, modify, and finalize engineering documents, including drawings and specifications, using Revit and AutoCAD. Confidently finalize the selection of equipment and materials for complex HVAC installations.
Drive Engineering & Analysis: Lead the technical analysis, calculations, and simulations for system loads and performance. Resolve issues impacting the budget, scope, and schedule by evaluating alternate schemes and implementing value engineering options to mitigate project risks.
Master Auditing & Site Assessment: Support the completion of preliminary and detailed facility studies to identify high-impact energy conservation opportunities and required system renewal projects.
Coordinate seamlessly with subconsultants, designers, vendors, and contractors to ensure all project requirements are met. Work hand-in-hand with our in-house construction and estimating teams to develop, review, and iterate on cost estimates and design concepts.

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited school. Targeted Experience: 7+ years of experience as a mechanical engineer focused on building systems. You possess strong project management skills for overseeing multiple projects simultaneously and consistently meeting deadlines.
Technical Chops: Strong, expert-level knowledge of HVAC principles and a deep understanding of building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to HVAC, controls, and plumbing systems. (Familiarity with designing controls, electrical, and plumbing systems in addition to mechanical systems is preferred).
A strong working knowledge of energy-efficient technologies and the expertise to design them to optimize system performance.
Software Proficiency: Proven experience with Bluebeam, CAD, Revit, and industry-standard load calculation software.
