Job Summary
Cigna is seeking a Software Engineering Senior Advisor to design and build scalable, cloud-native healthcare applications. This role requires a senior full-stack engineer with strong expertise in Java backend development , React , MongoDB , AWS , and event-driven distributed systems . Candidates with experience building applications in Healthcare, Pharmacy, PBM, Claims, or Eligibility environments will be given strong preference.
Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack applications using Java and React.
• Build high-performance backend services, REST APIs, and microservices.
• Design and optimize complex NoSQL data models using MongoDB.
• Develop event-driven applications using asynchronous messaging and distributed system patterns.
• Build and deploy cloud-native applications on AWS.
• Partner with Product Owners and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Lead technical design discussions and contribute to architecture decisions.
• Collaborate with Engineering, QA, DevOps, and Product teams to deliver high-quality software.
• Develop delivery plans, provide estimates, identify risks, and drive projects to completion.
• Improve system scalability, reliability, observability, and production performance.
• Participate in code reviews, mentor engineers, and promote engineering best practices.
• Contribute to CI/CD automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Utilize modern development tools, including AI-assisted development tools, to improve engineering productivity.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and enterprise security standards.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of enterprise software development experience.
• Strong backend development experience using Java .
• Strong experience developing modern frontend applications using React.js .
• Experience building RESTful APIs and Microservices.
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.
• Experience designing applications around Event-Driven Architecture .
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, reliability, and fault tolerance.
• Experience working with AWS cloud services.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and modern software development practices.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
