About this Job
This internship is suitable for anyone who is interested in a career that requires manuscript writing, research or funding such as in medicine, research and development, academia or non-profit sector.
As the Grant Writer Intern at Esurgi, you will research scientific literature, apply academic knowledge to solve industry problems, write and apply to grant applications for a device that treats people with chronic low back pain.
Job Responsibilities and Experience gained upon completion:
- Participate in the grant writing process for proposals.
- Become familiar with grant applications to organizations such as, NIH and NSF.
- Conduct literature research in chronic low back pain.
- Complete elements of grant applications.
- Outreach medical consultants and experts in biomedical technology.
- Conduct research to find potential sources of grants for Esurgi.
- Participate in writing up the selected grant proposals.
Minimum Requirements:
- Prior experience in scientific writing, grant writing, proposal writing or project writing in healthcare.
- Pursuing or have a four-year degree in healthcare, biology, biotechnology, kinesiology, physical therapy, or any related field.
- Researching scientific literature skills, e.g., comfortable conducting literature review using Google Scholar, PubMed, and other sources.
- Organizational and time-management skills.
- Self-motivated and detail oriented.
- Ability to work remotely, independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualification:
- Students who have writing experience in the sciences or have taken an upper-division writing course.
- Knowledge of grants and grant development
- Familiarity with research methodology
- Undergraduate of Graduate studies in Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, Physical Therapy, Biomedical Science or other related fields.

About Our Internships
A typical internship at Esurgi is essentially a special project in the work setting. The interns will be assigned a mentor with an executive background. The intern and the mentor will develop an internship plan. This will be based on the intern’s educational background, career goals, and realistic (preferably interdisciplinary / team) projects within the Esurgi sphere. The plan includes objectives, success factors, and deliverables. The intern and mentor will meet regularly to review the progress and plan of the intern.
This internship is intended for students to gain entry-level job experience.
This internship is Unpaid, is applicable for credit, curricular practical training (CPT) or optional practical training (OPT).
