Remote Briefing AttorneyPlaintiff-Side Civil Litigation | National Trial PracticeA nationally recognized plaintiff-side trial firm is seeking a highly skilled Briefing Attorney to support its Houston-based trial teams on complex, high-stakes civil litigation across the country. This role is ideal for an attorney who loves legal research and writing, thrives under deadlines, and wants to contribute meaningfully to impactful cases—without a traditional courtroom-heavy role.This is a full-time position that may be based remotely anywhere in the U.S. or in the Dallas office, with occasional travel to Houston for meetings or case needs.Writing-centric role focused on substantive motions, briefs, and trial issuesExposure to national litigation in multiple jurisdictionsDirect collaboration with elite trial teamsFlexibility of remote work with meaningful responsibilityWork that directly impacts case outcomes, not academic or siloed researchDuties & ResponsibilitiesResearch, prepare, and draft motions, responses, and briefs for assigned Houston trial teamsDraft petitions, complaints, affirmative motions, and complex demand lettersAnalyze contested legal issues during litigation and trial and prepare memoranda and briefingConduct in-depth legal research and review case records and discovery materialsLearn and apply procedural and substantive law across multiple jurisdictions approximately 60% Texas, 20% Louisiana, 20% other jurisdictionsSupport trial teams during active trial periods, including drafting trial briefsAttend trial 2–4 times per year as needed (travel required)RequirementsDemonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively without heavy supervisionStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneouslyExceptional legal research, writing, and analytical ability, with attention to detail and precisionAbility to synthesize complex or unfamiliar legal issues quickly and accuratelyComfort working flexible hours to meet briefing schedules and court deadlinesClear preference for writing-intensive legal work in a fast-paced environmentGenuine interest in plaintiff-side advocacy and obtaining strong results for injured clientsQualificationsJ.D.

from an ABA-accredited law schoolMember in good standing of any U.S. state barMinimum 2 years post-J.D. experience in civil litigation or 1 year of judicial clerkship experienceSubstantial experience drafting briefs, motions, and responsesPrior appellate or complex briefing experience strongly preferredKnowledge of Texas state and federal court practice preferredAbility to maintain strict confidentiality and professionalismWillingness to work extended hours, including evenings/weekends, as required by deadlinesTechnology & Practice ToolsProficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel)Experience with modern legal technology platforms preferred, including Filevine, SharePoint, OneDrive, Microsoft TeamsExperience PreferencesPlaintiff-side personal injury experience (preferred, not required)Civil litigation experience (required)Appellate or advanced briefing experienceExperience working with expertsRegular client communication experienceFamiliarity with cases from intake through resolution
