Job Summary
CabotCorporation is seeking a Reliability Engineer to join the team at the Franklin, LA location. The role focuses on improving equipment reliability, availability, and performance in a carbon black manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Identify, recommend, and implement improvements to optimize plant performance, including volume, yield, quality, and equipment reliability.
- Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and ensure corrective actions are implemented to eliminate repeat failures.
- Provide advice and support to resolve problems, using statistical techniques to improve process capability.
- Investigate and implement process improvements, equipment modifications and upgrades.
- Analyze equipment performance data and failure trends to drive continuous improvement.
- Support the site mechanical integrity program by investigating equipment problems and eliminating recurrence of failures.
- Review preventive maintenance plans to ensure optimum scheduling.
- Implement Predictive Maintenance Programs and monitor plant condition to maximize safety and reliability.
- Assist in design, procurement and installation of new equipment.
- Develop plant-wide standard operating procedures for process and equipment operation.
- Support new product and process runs and prepare relevant documentation.
- Work with site Capital project managers and Finance to create assets in the maintenance management system.
- Assign PM’s, spare parts, etc. in the maintenance management system during the project handover process.
- Conduct end‑of‑life assessments and recommend equipment repairs or replacements.
- Assist with equipment repairs of stationary and rotating equipment, coordinating with OEMs, after‑market suppliers, and outside repair shops.
- Support Process Safety Management (PSM), including MOC, PHA participation, and incident investigations.
- Monitor maintenance projects and progress, and oversee external contractors in accordance with site regulations.
- Support efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care® Management System in line with RC14001® requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or university degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline.
- Minimum 4+ years’ experience as a reliability or maintenance engineer.
- Industry experience in chemical manufacturing, oil & gas refining, pipeline maintenance, or another petrochemical environment.
- Certifications in vibration monitoring and/or CMRP (Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, rotating and stationary equipment, and industrial maintenance practices.
- Experience with reliability tools and methodologies (RCFA, FMEA, condition monitoring, PdM technologies).
- Working knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) and industrial safety practices (LOTO, confined space, hot work).
- Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem‑solving skills with a data‑driven mindset.
- Effective communication and ability to collaborate across operations, maintenance, and engineering.
- Knowledge of PSM and industrial safety standards.
