Conducts patient interviews by phone and in-person for the purpose of establishing an account, gathering demographic, insurance, and clinical information to ensure appropriate patient scheduling and optimal financial clearance.
Collects out of pocket fees and completes accurate registration.Job DutiesInterviews patients using open-ended questions to obtain pertinent demographic and insurance information.Engages patients throughout the registration process to create a welcoming and positive patient experience during all interactions.Determines and collects patient financial liability and creates estimates, if applicable. Refers patients to financial resources as needed for assistance with financial counseling.Interprets physician orders for appropriate testing or admission criteria.Scans insurance cards, scripts, patient identification, and all pertinent documentation including regulatory forms.Performs insurance eligibility verification and executes payor requirements, as needed.Secures signatures to ensure timely reimbursement as well as ensures consents are signed specific to service being rendered.Reviews daily schedule for complications affecting department flow and confers with colleagues and physicians as needed to anticipate and resolve problems.Maintains compliance with registration accuracy.Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma/GED1 year Customer service. or1 year Healthcare environment such as a hospital and/or physician office.Computer and typing proficiency.Must be able to combine compassion with strong professional skills.Must be able to interact with a diverse customer base, including those seeking emergency services or treatment due to an accident or illness.Must successfully pass the required training in two attempts or less.Preferred Qualifications2 years registration/insurance verification in a health care settingKnowledge of medical terminology.Bilingual.Physical Demands Lift and carry 7 lbs., continuous sitting >67%, frequent keyboard use/repetitive motion, frequent fine motor activity/wrist position deviation.Lehigh Valley Health Network is an equal opportunity employer.
