Collects insurance, co-pay, and deductibles at Point of Service. Quickly and efficiently expedites the registration process.
Provides a positive first impression of the hospital to the public.How you'll contributeEnsure that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered in the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.Distribute and explain forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients or family members.Meet with patient or patient's caregiver before or after admission to exchange necessary information and documentation. Provides explanation of process and addresses concerns and questions.Communicate with admitting physician's office, nursing unit staff, and/or other appropriate personnel regarding admission to exchange necessary information and determine placement.Verify insurance benefits and obtain precertification/authorization as necessary. Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, or refers to financial counselors for follow-upRequired SkillsCritical thinking skills and decisive judgmentAbility to work with minimal supervisionMust be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.EducationHigh School Diploma or GED Preferred; Associate degree preferred.CertificationsHandle with Care certification required within 30 days of orientation and maintained annuallySchedule: Part Time / PRN: Must have flexible schedule.
