Registered Nurse (RN) – Evening Shift

Location: RWJ Rahway Hospital, 865 Stone Street, Rahway, NJ 07065

Department: Emergency Department

Shift: Evening (1:00 PM – 1:30 AM)

Pay Range: $48.29 – $65.06 per hour

Job Overview: Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway’s Emergency Department provides comprehensive care for over 32,000 patients annually. As a Primary Stroke Center, the department offers advanced treatment for critical patients. The RN will deliver direct patient care, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and ensure safe, evidence‑based treatment in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications / Required

• Minimum 1 year of critical‑care experience; ED experience preferred
• ASN or Nursing Diploma (BSN strongly preferred)
• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing or NJ endorsement of a Compact license
• Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills
• American Heart Association BLS certification required upon hire

Preferred Certifications

• ACLS certification within 6 months of hire
• PALS certification within 6 months of hire

Scheduling Requirements

• Evening shift: 1:00 PM – 1:30 AM
• 36‑hour work week, Monday–Friday, alternating weekends and holiday rotation

Essential Functions

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and intervene early with clinical judgment.
• Provide safe, evidence‑based medications, treatments, and hands‑on care.
• Serve as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, supporting coordinated care decisions.
• Educate patients and families with clear, compassionate communication.
• Document accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.
• Contribute to interdisciplinary rounds to enhance communication and transitions of care.
• Participate actively in a collaborative team environment.
• Pursue professional growth via continuing education, clinical ladder opportunities, and organizational resources.
