Registered Nurse (RN), Post Intensive Care Unit III

Job Overview

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Registered Nurse for our Post Intensive Care Unit III at the New Brunswick campus. Post Intensive Care Unit III, also known as the Respiratory Care Unit, comprises 19 beds each with a bedside monitor and the capability for step‑down ICU/progressive care. We care for a vast array of medical patients including ALS, chronic ventilator patients, pneumonia, and alcohol withdrawal.

Qualifications

Required:

• ASN or Nursing Diploma
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Proficient computer skills

Preferred:

• BSN or must be completed within 5 years upon hire
• At least 1 year of RN experience
• Telemetry and intermediate care experience
• Previous ventilator experience

Certifications and Licenses Required

• BLS and ACLS certification
• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License

Scheduling Requirements

• Night shift, 36 hours per week, 7 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
• Monday – Friday, some weekend and holiday rotation
• Part‑time

Essential Functions

• The Registered Nurse provides nursing care within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and ensures adherence to ethical standards as defined by the ANA code of ethics.
• The Registered Nurse maintains knowledge of the patient population served, including safety and evidence‑based practice, and takes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others on the patient care team.
• The Registered Nurse reports identified safety issues such as hazardous environments and medical errors.
• The Registered Nurse supervises and delegates tasks to appropriate team members, collaborating with other patient‑care providers.
• The Registered Nurse consistently sets and evaluates priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.
• The Registered Nurse is an individual practitioner and interdisciplinary team manager, utilizing the nursing process to integrate all aspects of care and individualize the plan of care for specific patient needs.
