Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU/Telemetry
Job Type: PRN | Days
Schedule: 12‑hour shifts, PRN – As needed, days (7a-7p). Holidays and weekends may be required.
Unit Description
22‑bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Telemetry unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5.
Staffed by RNs, CNAs, Telemetry Techs, and unit secretaries, the unit provides specialized care for patients primarily diagnosed with respiratory failure and cardiac conditions.
Responsibilities
- Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs.
- Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions.
- Provides care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient.
- Performs timely and appropriate documentation related to medical necessity in the medical record.
- Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
- Conducts timely and accurate QI assessments.
Qualifications
- Current North Carolina or compact state Registered Nurse license.
- Associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
- AHA ACLS and PALS certifications required within six months of hire.
- One year of experience preferred.
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Capability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
