Pay Range: $20.00 – $41.25 (actual rate depends on experience)

Position Highlights: Primary nurse with adult infectious disease. May be eligible for a $6000 sign on bonus.

Pay Scale:
RN: $27.75 – $41.25
LPN: $22.50 – $31.50
MA: $20.00 – $28.00

Student Loan Repayment: The Registered Nurse (RN) position may be eligible for Avera’s Student Loan Repayment Program, which helps pay off loans. Each month an extra payment of $167 (up to $10,000) is made.

Medical Assistant Job Summary

Performs selected medical assistant and clerical duties that assist in care for clinic patients following established standards, practices, and competency. Works collaboratively with other clinic staff to solve practice‑related problems.

Must Have One Of The Following Certifications

  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) – National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

What You Will Do

  • Perform general nursing care to patients. Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to nursing standards. Coordinate patient care activities for the clinic.
  • Prepare equipment and assist provider during procedures, treatments, examinations, and testing of patients.
  • Observe, record, and report patient’s condition and reactions to drugs and treatments to provider.
  • Oversee appointment scheduling and ensure preferences are given to patients in emergency situations. Maintain timely flow of patients.
  • Greet patients and prepare them for physical examination. Screen patients for appropriate information, including obtaining the health history and taking vitals. Document obtained information in patient chart. Instruct patient in collection of samples and tests.
  • Respond to patient phone calls in a timely manner with appropriate input from the physician.
  • Educate patients and families about diagnostic process, medications, nutrition, and maintenance of health and wellness.
  • Suggest solutions to patient care crisis problems and complaints.
  • Maintain exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials. Ensure cleanliness. Prepare list of medical supplies needed.
  • Assure appropriate labeling of pathology specimens according to lab protocol as needed. Perform quality control and maintain records on all lab testing.

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – active license in the state of practice; upon hire.
