Registered Nurse (RN), Non-Invasive Cardiology, Full Time, Days

Overview

Responsible for performing safe and effective cardiac stress tests, pacemaker checks, arrhythmia surveillance monitoring, and assisting with diagnostic procedures. Delivers individualized quality patient care through a coordinated team approach with physicians, staff, other departments and the patient’s family. Complies with applicable nursing practice standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform safe and effective cardiac stress tests (treadmills, thallium treadmill tests, pharmacological stress tests, stress echocardiograms, and pharmacologic stress echocardiograms).
• Conduct pacemaker checks and arrhythmia surveillance monitoring.
• Prepare patients for and assist with diagnostic procedures, including transesophageal echocardiograms (TEEs), cardioversions, tilt-table tests, and blood pressure monitoring for a group of patients.
• Deliver individualized quality patient care through a coordinated team approach with physicians, staff, other departments and the patient’s family.
• Comply with the California Nurse Practice Act, Article 2, Section 2725 of the Business and Professions Code.

Qualifications

• Required : Graduated from an approved School of Nursing; Current license as a Registered Nurse in California; BCLS and ACLS certification; Evidence of continuing education and self-development; Minimum of two (2) years experience in a Cardiovascular unit; Demonstrates teaching ability in a formal and/or informal setting; Knowledge of diagnostic tests and their preparations; Knowledge and experience with administering IV and PO drugs and their possible adverse reactions; Competent with patient evaluation, physical assessment, and interviewing techniques; Knowledge of the legal aspects of nursing; Successfully passing safety, cultural sensitivity, and blood pathogen classes; Knowledge and experience with conscious sedation medications and their reversal agents; Knowledge and demonstrated skill using monitors and associated equipment (e.g., infusion pumps, temporary pacemakers, O2 equipment, SPO2 monitors, EKG machines, defibrillators).
• Preferred : Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); Two years of ICU experience.
