Registered Nurse (RN) Med/Surg GI-Stroke Unit

Overview

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Medical Surgical GI‑Stroke Unit, 2 West at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA. This unit holds the PRISM (Premiere Recognition in Specialty of Medical‑Surgical) distinction.

Job Details

• Location: Norfolk, VA
• Shift: Multiple shifts available (Day and Night) – Full Time (36 hr/week)
• Sign‑On Bonus: Up to $20,000 for qualified applicants (contact recruiter for details)

New graduate nurses and experienced nurses are encouraged to apply. The unit offers an 11‑week Transition to Practice (TTP) program and a comprehensive 6‑month residency program.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering competent nursing care using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation). The RN also adheres to professional performance standards including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice, quality, resource utilization, and environmental health.

Education

• Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
• Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science Nursing (MSN) preferred
• Currently enrolled in a nursing program

Certification and Licensure

• Registered Nursing License (Required)
• Student in process of obtaining RN license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire
