Schedule: Monday‑Thursday 8:00 am‑5:00 pm, Friday 8:00 am‑12:00 pm; 72 hours per 2 weeks
Pay Range: $20.00 – $41.25 (actual rate depends on experience). Sign‑on bonuses up to $10,000 may be available.
Job Summary
The Medical Assistant performs clinical and clerical duties to support patient care in the clinic, following established standards, competencies, and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Provide general nursing care to patients and administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
- Coordinate patient care activities for the clinic, including preparing equipment and assisting providers during procedures, treatments, examinations, and testing.
- Observe, record, and report patients’ condition and reactions to drugs and treatments to the provider.
- Oversee appointment scheduling and ensure patients receive timely care, particularly in emergency situations.
- Greet patients, prepare them for physical examinations, and conduct nursing assessments, including obtaining health history, taking vitals, and documenting information in the patient chart.
- Respond to patient phone calls promptly and appropriately, following physician instructions.
- Educate patients and families about diagnostic processes, medications, nutrition, and health maintenance.
- Suggest solutions to patient care crisis problems and complaints.
- Maintain exam rooms with necessary supplies and ensure cleanliness; prepare lists of required medical supplies.
- Label pathology specimens according to lab protocol and perform quality control, maintaining records of all lab testing.
Essential Qualifications and Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) – active license in South Dakota, board certification required.
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – active license in South Dakota.
- Medical Assistant (MA) – one of the following: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – NHA with MA diploma, CCMA (NHA) with one year experience, Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – AAMA, or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – AMT.
- Full‑time availability; must be able to work the specified schedule.
- Demonstrated ability to perform essential job functions, including visual acuity, communication, hearing, and understanding speech.
