West River Mental Health is accepting applications for an RN/LPN. These positions coordinate medical treatment, rehabilitation, and support services for identified clients, providing a safe and therapeutic environment and assisting clients in accessing natural resources and community-based supports for smoother transitions.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide case management services by participating in medical treatment planning and monitoring progress toward goals; assist in locating, coordinating, and monitoring medical, social, and psychiatric services; document and notify staff of changes in client status; provide emergency services when the client is in crisis.
- Provide symptom assessment and management, when clinically appropriate.
- Assist with administration of prescription and nonprescription medication.
- Instruct clients in self-administration of prescribed and nonprescribed medications.
- Provide or coordinate staff training for CPR, first aid, medication management, and infection control.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor procedures for administering and storing medications.
- Document client activity in charts as required by operating procedures.
- Provide direct assistance or referrals to ensure clients obtain basic necessities, perform daily living activities, and develop social skills.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of medical protocols as they relate to mental illness.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Knowledge of and skill in using a computer keyboard for typing.
- Knowledge of and skill in administering CPR, first aid, and medication management.
- Ability to enter various buildings, including court systems and public service agencies, which may involve climbing or descending multiple levels.
- Ability to respond to clients by phone and in person in emergency situations.
- Ability to interact professionally with clients and customers.
- Ability to sit and type on a computer keyboard for short to moderate lengths of time.
- Ability to maintain a South Dakota driver’s license and vehicle liability insurance and safely operate a vehicle in all weather conditions.
Education and Experience
RN, LPN, or Paramedic Certification in the State of South Dakota.
