Overview
The Registered Nurse is responsible for evaluating patients and assisting physicians with patient care.
Responsibilities
- Plans, implements, and documents nursing care based on patient's needs.
- Identifies patient needs and determines priorities for care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Develops, implements, and coordinates individualized plan of care for patients assigned through initial and ongoing assessments.
- Initiates assessment based on the patient's problems or needs, the physician's medical diagnosis, and the functional health framework.
- Performs therapeutic nursing interventions.
- Manages care of patients.
- Documents care based on standards of care and practice, patient acuity, and/or clinical priorities.
- Advocates for evidence-based practice care standards and supports adoption of evidence-based practices and innovations in care delivery.
- Provides patient-centric care in alignment with professional nursing practice model.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Float to units within competency as required.
- Cardiac Vascular & Post Surgical Stepdown Unit.
Education & Certifications
- Required Education: ASN. Preferred Education: BSN.
- Required Certifications & Licensure: ACLS-AHA, NIHSS, BLS-AHA, CEU Contact Stroke 4 Hours, Telemetry, NJ State Professional Registered Nurse license or multi-state compact license.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Minimum of 2 years prior RN experience working in a MS/Tele unit in a major acute care hospital setting required.
- Must have a strong MS/Tele background.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Ventilator.
- Post-cardiac surgery experience.
- Post-surgical experience.
Schedule & Experience
- Neuro ICU Stepdown position
- Neuro/Stroke/ Neurosurgery experience REQUIRED
- 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
- 3 x 12 hr shifts
- Weekends/ Holidays as Needed
- No On-Call Requirement
- Float to units as needed
- Required Years Of Experience: 2 years
- Preferred Years Of Experience: 5 Years
Other
Epic charting experience; Ventilator management (preferred).
