Registered Nurse (RN) FT Nights - Float Pool - AH Mercy

Job Summary

Registered Nurse (RN) – Float Pool at Atrium Health Mercy (34102 Carolinas Medical Center). This full‑time night shift position requires flexible floating across all inpatient units. Schedule: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, 12‑hour shifts.

Pay & Benefits

Schedule

• Full‑time nights: three 12‑hour shifts per week (7 pm–7 am).
• Weekend and holiday shifts may be required.

Responsibilities

• Engage in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives.
• Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate care.
• Monitor patient conditions, adjust care plans, mobilize resources, and collaborate with the care team.
• Uphold and promote a culture of safety.
• Continuously evaluate outcomes, taking action as needed.
• Administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely per protocols.
• Demonstrate effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution.
• Maintain professional development, required education, and certifications.
• Adhere to ANA Code of Ethics, respecting interdisciplinary roles.
• Delegate appropriately to RN, LPN, and unlicensed assistive personnel.
• Maintain accurate, timely EHR documentation.
• Float to other units, departments, or facilities within the service area as needed.
• Provide age‑specific care appropriate for patient populations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of inpatient nursing experience (6 months required outside New Grad residency).
• Completion of an accredited nursing program.
• Registered Nurse license issued by the state of practice.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Ability to pass physical requirements and tests.

Physical Requirements

• Occasional sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach, and twist.
• Lift up to 35 lb; push/pull 30 lb; perform sliding transfer of 150 lb with assistance.
• Maintain functional speech, vision, hearing, touch; fine hand manipulation skills.
• Manoeuvre foot pedals on carts/machines.
• Perform physical safety interventions (restraint, verbal de‑escalation) if needed.
• Wear protective clothing and equipment when exposed to chemicals, blood, body fluids, or communicable disease.
• Respond quickly to changes in patient/unit conditions.
• May undergo physical ability testing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
