Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department (ER) – PRN

Job Type: PRN | Variable schedule: 3x12 shifts within a 6‑week period (one weekend day included).

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
• Perform plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care procedures.
• Document patient care given.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluate learning needs of patients and/or families and provide education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Advocate for the physical and emotional well‑being of patients.

Qualifications

• Current Tennessee or compact‑state RN license and an associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school.
• Certifications:
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire.
• Required skills: critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision, ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Education: Associate’s degree required; BSN preferred.
• Licenses: Must be a licensed Registered Nurse with the State of Tennessee or a licensed RN from a Compact State with the proper Tennessee paperwork filed within 30 days of hire.
