Position Overview

Provides direct patient care to medical, surgical, and cardiovascular patients requiring advanced monitoring. Operates advanced medical equipment including central lines, A‑lines, multiple IV balloon pumps, Impella pumps, ventilation support, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). Also cares for general medical and surgical patients on the in‑patient unit. Assesses and implements established policies and procedures with minimal supervision, acts as a clinical leader, and assists with precepting staff. Provides direct care from admission to discharge, including discharge planning. Gives direction to RN, LPN, CNA, housekeeping staff, and dietary staff. Receives direction from providers, charge nurses, supervisors, and the chief nursing officer.

Scheduling

Schedule of 3x12 shifts and nights (7:00 pm–7:30 am).

Education

• Graduate of an accredited RN Degree Nursing Program, required.

Experience

• Practice in an advanced medical/surgical unit and recent critical care nursing, including cardiovascular surgery, required.
• Impella and/or other cardiac balloon pump and CRRT experience, preferred.
• 1–2 years of cardiac surgical ICU experience strongly preferred.

License & Certifications

• Current State of Montana RN licensure.
• BLS and ACLS required.
• Complete PALS courses within 6 months of hire and renew as required.
• EPNC and TNCC certifications preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Advanced nursing principles and procedures.
• Use of basic office equipment and multiple IV pumps.
• Ability to operate advanced medical equipment, including A‑lines, invasive lines, cardiac balloon pumps, chest tubes, ventilatory support, and CRRT patients.
