Position Details

Department: 34516 Lexington Medical Center - Nursing: Critical Care

Status: Part time

Hours per Week: 0

Commitment: PRN – 3 twelve‑hour shifts per six‑week time track
Schedule: 7 pm – 7 am
1 summer holiday and 1 winter holiday required

Pay

Pay Range: $38.20 – $57.30 per hour

Location

The Critical Care Unit at Lexington Medical Center is a 16‑bed unit that provides both intensive and intermediate care. A dedicated charge nurse supports the unit without a patient assignment. The unit is equipped to monitor and trend heart rhythms and other hemodynamic pressures. Care of patients on ventilators, non‑invasive ventilation with BiPAP or CPAP, and heated high‑flow oxygen delivery. Titrating medication IV drips to ordered parameters and the ability to follow protocols and order sets. Patient populations include sepsis, shock, respiratory failure, DKA, HHS, electrolyte abnormalities, COPD, CHF, pulmonary edema, cardiac dysrhythmias, stroke, post‑surgical unstable patients, hypertensive emergency requiring IV drips, overdose, ETOH detox, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive patient care through the nursing process, delivering safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Use evidence‑based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skillful communication to create the safest patient environment and best patient experience across the continuum.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited or approved nursing program.
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Greater than 2 years of ICU RN experience preferred.
