SCHEDULE
- PRN - Commitment of 3 shifts per 6-week time track
- 7pm-7am
- One major and one minor holiday per year
WHERE YOU WILL WORK
The Critical Care Unit at Lexington Medical Center is a 16-bed unit that provides both Intensive and Intermediate Care. A dedicated charge nurse supports the unit without a patient assignment. The unit is equipped to monitor and trend heart rhythms and other hemodynamic pressures. Care of patients on ventilators, noninvasive ventilation with BiPAP or CPAP, and heated high flow oxygen delivery, titrating medication IV drips to ordered parameters and following protocols and order sets. Patient populations include sepsis, shock, respiratory failure, DKA, HHS, electrolyte abnormalities that require close monitoring, COPD, CHF, pulmonary edema, cardiac dysrhythmias, stroke, post-surgical unstable patients, hypertensive emergency that requires IV drips, overdose, ETOH detox, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which you practice
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Greater than 2 years of ICU RN experience preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES
- As a skilled and compassionate RN, you will play a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
- Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skillful communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.
