Registered Nurse (RN) Critical Care Float Pool

Job Description

Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) Float Pool to join the team. This role will be part‑time night Shift: Days Varying, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM.

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple, sometimes conflicting, data sets and synthesizing their interrelationships.
• Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice.
• Supports and empowers patients/families as they progress through the healthcare continuum from health promotion to end‑of‑life decisions.
• Advocates for patients' rights from the patient/family perspective while providing counsel and acting as a resource to resolve issues.
• Anticipates ethical, spiritual and cultural needs of patients and intervenes to maximize patient outcomes and coordinates healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning.
• Documents all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and assists healthcare team members with documentation.
• Evaluates the outcomes of documentation and contributes to related performance improvement initiatives.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and leads other disciplines to meet desired outcomes.
• Acts as a clinical resource and serves as a mentor to healthcare team members.
• Obtains a minimum of six formal contact hours and maintains own Continuing Education Record.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• If an RN has an Associate’s Degree within 2 years of hire, they must meet with their nurse leader and develop a written plan to obtain a BSN within 5 years, submit transcripts, and complete the degree.
• Experience: 2+ years of critical‑care RN experience preferred.
• Licensure: Licensed Registered Nurse or eligible for licensure in Virginia, or an active multi‑state RN license.
• Certifications: BLS for Healthcare Provider, ACLS and NIHSS.
