Role Overview: The Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Clinical Nurse (WOCN) provides specialized acute and rehabilitative care for patients with GI, GU, and Integumentary disorders.


Key Responsibilities: Acts as a clinical expert and consultant, developing individualized, evidence-based care plans, performing assessments, diagnoses, and treatments, including wound and ostomy management. Provides patient education, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, and ensures safety and quality standards. Conducts hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), operating chambers, monitoring patient response, and maintaining equipment. Leads quality improvement initiatives, participates in research, precepts students, and supports resource management.


Qualifications & Skills: Requires Associates or Bachelor's Nursing degree, RN licensure (multi-state or single-state), and current BLS certification. Minimum of 3 years' experience in acute care, with strong clinical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of evidence-based practice, safety standards, and hyperbaric procedures is essential. Preferred certifications include specialty certification, PALS, and PALS-P.


Additional Duties: Contributes to professional development, maintains confidentiality, and adheres to organizational policies. Supports performance improvement, interdisciplinary communication, and patient-centered care to promote optimal outcomes.
