Registered Nurse (RN) - Psych

Overview
Responsible for assessing, establishing, and delivering a plan of care with ongoing evaluation to adults (18+) diagnosed with substance use disorders, possibly with mental health and other co-occurring disorders.
Essential Functions
- Screens individuals for potential admission via telephone or walk-ins, ensuring appropriate level of care based on RN assessment and OASAS LOCADTR tool. Collects medical, psychiatric, trauma, and substance use history.
- Refers ineligible individuals to other services, documents non-admission reasons, and manages alternative referrals.
- Processes intake in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team, completing all forms in the electronic medical record.
- Ensures patient understanding of unit orientation, safety, confidentiality, policies, and infection control.
- Collects health data, completes assessments, and requests prior medical records if needed.
- Conducts TB surveillance, administers tests, provides education, and documents results.
- Orders, receives, and supervises medication, providing education and documenting administration.
- Follows practitioner orders, observes for withdrawal or mood changes, and provides necessary interventions including rescue care.
- Prioritizes health concerns, ensures unit rounds are completed, and documents accordingly.
- Participates in discharge planning, education, and documentation.
- Maintains electronic record accuracy, reports stock needs, and ensures certifications are current.
- Reports suspected abuse immediately.
Education and Qualifications
- Current NYS RN license.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- At least 1 year experience with individuals with substance use and mental health disorders preferred.
- Current CPR and Narcan training.
- NY driver’s license preferred.
Salary Range
USD $55.65 per hour. This is a good faith estimate; actual pay depends on qualifications, skills, and experience. Benefits and incentives are not included in this range.
