Role Overview: The Ambulatory Surgery RN provides patient care during surgical procedures, assisting with preparation, circulating, and supervising nursing activities within the operating room.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate room schedules and patient arrivals in the Surgical Suite.
- Communicate with families to address concerns and ensure smooth procedures.
- Supervise and assist operative teams, ensuring aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Monitor and interpret patient signs, especially during local anesthesia, and report changes.
- Maintain sterile instruments, prepare the OR between procedures, and handle specimens properly.
- Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards, including equipment maintenance.
- Assist in cleaning, sterilizing, and preparing instruments, and operate sterilizers as needed.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and safeguard patient safety throughout.
Qualifications & Skills:
Must be a graduate of a Specialty Training Program in Nursing, with preferred experience in same-day surgery. Strong communication, supervision, and adherence to safety standards are essential. The role involves working in a clinical environment, following all organizational policies and procedures.
