Responsibilities
- Assess patients and families, provide teaching, and make referrals for continuity of care
- Develop individual plans of care using a collaborative approach with patient/family and healthcare team
- Promptly complete documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient care
- Deliver high‑quality care utilizing the nursing process and demonstrating peri‑operative specialty knowledge, skills, and adherence to policies, procedures, and standards of care
- Utilize a holistic approach—considering biopsychosocial, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria—appropriate to the age of patients and families served in the assigned service area
- Delegate and provide direction for other healthcare team members within their scope of practice and hold them accountable for their involvement in the plan of care
- Utilize critical thinking in developing nursing interventions while maintaining responsibility and accountability for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Experience: Preferred but not required in critical care or telemetry
- Licensure: Current RN licensure in good standing with the State of Iowa
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS required (or must be obtained within 3 months of hire). On‑call: Ability to participate in on‑call shifts and respond within 30 minutes when called in
