About the Department

Boston Medical Center (BMC) operates two Medical Intensive Care Units (MICUs). MICU A consists of 17 beds and MICU B of 10 beds, caring for the most acute medical patients including multisystem failure, renal failure, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and sepsis.

Position Summary

As an RN in the Critical Care unit, you will deliver patient‑centered nursing care, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and support quality improvement initiatives in a mission‑driven environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care in the Critical Care unit, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and patient education.
  • Communicate effectively with health care team members, patients, and families.
  • Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter‑professional colleagues.
  • Update and manage patient records; enter and interpret computerized data.
  • Follow BMC nursing guidelines and policies.
  • Assist leadership on quality improvement projects as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Active or pending Massachusetts RN license (or ability to obtain one).
  • 1+ years of RN experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required in certain units.
  • Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN, or BSN (preferred).
  • Ability to obtain a BSN within 4 years.
  • Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty certification for certain practice areas.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Fluency in another language is a plus.
