Medical Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (Full Time)

This individual is responsible for the comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, ensuring safe and effective outcomes aligned with best practices and regulatory standards. The RN demonstrates strong clinical judgment and critical thinking, coupled with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and build meaningful relationships with patients and their families. Job Duties / Responsibilities

  • Performs comprehensive patient assessments and develops individualized plans of care based on clinical findings and patient needs
  • Implements and evaluates nursing interventions to ensure optimal patient outcomes across medical-surgical and telemetry populations
  • Monitors cardiac rhythms and recognizes, interprets, and responds appropriately to changes in patient condition
  • Administers medications, treatments, and therapies in accordance with physician orders, hospital policies, and nursing standards
  • Collaborates with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate and optimize patient care
  • Provides patient and family education to support understanding of diagnoses, treatment plans, discharge instructions, and disease management
  • Documents all aspects of patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment by adhering to infection prevention, safety, and regulatory guidelines
  • Prioritizes and manages multiple patients effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
  • Responds to emergencies and participates in rapid response and code situations as needed
  • Supports patient throughput and flow by facilitating timely admissions, transfers, and discharges
  • Serves as a patient advocate, ensuring respect, dignity, and culturally competent care at all times
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and performance improvement activities
  • Precepts and mentors new staff and/or students as appropriate
  • Demonstrates accountability for professional growth, maintaining required competencies, certifications, and continuing education

Qualifications

  • Valid DC RN license.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • 2 years of acute care experience required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
