The Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at Boston Children’s Hospital is a 22-bed facility dedicated to the care of children with a wide range of critical illness diagnoses including respiratory failure (severe breathing problems), sepsis (serious infection), nutritional failure, poisoning, congenital anomalies, and life‑threatening complications of metabolic diseases and endocrine disorders.
Key Responsibilities
- Caring for patients with respiratory insufficiency and/or failure, diabetic ketoacidosis, asthma, heart failure, sepsis, metabolic crisis, and those experiencing medically fragile/technology dependent co‑morbidities.
- Providing care to medical patients with life‑threatening and/or potentially life threatening conditions across the age continuum.
- Working in a collaborative environment with opportunities for both learning and career growth.
- Practicing family centered care in an ICU environment.
- 36 hours/week, rotating days/nights and every third weekend.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: BSN required
Experience:
- A minimum of 1 year pediatric experience, ICU preferred.
- Adult ICU or equivalent experience with mechanically ventilated patients strongly considered.
- Pediatric experience preferred but not required.
Licensure/ Certifications:
- Massachusetts RN Licensure
