Position Summary
BMC is a leading trauma and safety net hospital in New England. As a registered nurse on the Medical Surgical‑Orthopedic Unit, you will deliver patient‑centered care across orthopedics, hip fracture, ENT, and OMFS populations.
Schedule: 36‑hour nights, every other weekend/holiday. Location: Med Surg – Ortho Unit.
Job Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing care in the Medical Surgical unit: assess, diagnose, plan, intervene, evaluate, and educate patients.
- Communicate effectively with the health‑care team, patients, and families.
- Coordinate and delegate patient‑care activities to inter‑professional colleagues.
- Update and manage patient records and enter/interpret computerized data.
- Follow BMC nursing guidelines and policies.
- Assist leadership in quality‑improvement projects.
Job Requirements
- Licensed as a registered nurse in Massachusetts.
- 1+ year RN experience (preferred).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for certain units.
- Diploma, ASN, or BSN (BSN preferred); ability to obtain BSN within four years.
- Relevant clinical experience and specialty certifications required for certain practice areas.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Physical ability to perform job duties.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Fluency in another language is a plus.
