Registered Nurse - Med Surg - Full-Time - Days

Overview

Copley Hospital, located in Morrisville/Stowe VT, is in search of a Registered Nurse to join our team on the Inpatient Med Surg Unit. This 21‑bed unit serves medical/surgical and progressive care patients. The RN provides post‑operative surgical care for orthopedic joint replacements, abdominal and genitourinary surgery, and medical management for diabetic, cardiac, gastrointestinal, trauma, neurological, and respiratory patients. Patients may be monitored by telemetry. Progressive care patients need close monitoring and frequent assessment but do not require ICU. The RN delivers age‑specific, direct patient care, using the Nursing process and the Department of Nursing Standards of Patient Care and Specialty‑Specific Standards of Patient Care. The RN also has leadership responsibilities, including delegation of work to other staff, and complies with all applicable State and Federal laws, regulations, and policies governing the provision of health care.

Shift Availability

This is a Full‑Time position with part‑time availability. Copley Hospital has a variety of shifts available across Full‑Time, Part‑Time, and Per Diem needs. Please consider applying to discuss how your availability may align.

Compensation

$32.09–$54.81 per hour. The posted salary range reflects base compensation for candidates with a variety of experience levels. An offer within this range may be presented based on experience.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate unit specific skills required for assigned service area.
• Integrate knowledge of patient populations served to plan interventions.
• Meet Copley Hospital standards related to telephone etiquette, customer service, comportment, inter‑departmental relations, confidentiality, corporate compliance, patient provider rights, UOR reporting, QI, and Code of Conduct.
• Develop and maintain human care relationships; adapt care for diverse populations and assist colleagues with care delivery.
• Incorporate teaching into care delivery; demonstrate competence in health promotion and disease prevention; provide information to patients and families.
• Manage self and resources effectively; multitask, accept changes in assignment, and use supplies appropriately.
• Apply leadership skills; coordinate care within the multidisciplinary team and communicate with professional clarity.
• Support organizational values: compassion, respect for human dignity, professional competence, service spirit, honesty, confidentiality, and stewardship.
• Provide critical‑care transport: deliver direct patient care during inter‑facility transport, following EMS protocols and standing orders.
• Participate in continuing education and mandatory training (Healthstream topics, BLS renewal, etc.) and maintain competency.
• Apply critical thinking; integrate data from multiple sources and seek assistance appropriately.
• Communicate accurately and timely with patients, team members, and management; complete charts, protect confidentiality, and attend staff meetings.
• Identify and apply age‑specific safety needs for disasters, transfers, security risks, restraints, and equipment use.
• Apply assessment and intervention skills in all interactions: asepsis, assessment, monitoring, pain management, medication administration, IV line management, and plan of care revisions.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree (or equivalent certification).
• Minimum of one year experience preferred.
• Current Vermont licensure and BLS certification.
