The Registered Nurse Hemodialysis at Yale New Haven Health is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individual patient care in a dialysis setting. What You'll Do

  • Assess the patient's physical and psychosocial condition throughout the dialysis treatment.
  • Develop, communicate, and document a plan of care related to the patient's acute dialysis schedule.
  • Implement and coordinate the plan of care in collaboration with the nephrologist on call.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the dialysis treatment and provide educational opportunities.
  • Plan for education after assessing the individual learning needs of the patient and family.
  • Function as a preceptor to new staff.
  • Function as a charge nurse.
  • Meet performance expectations for customer service and teamwork.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure smooth operation of the department/unit.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of standards of care associated with acute dialysis treatment.

Requirements

Education

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.

Experience

  • Previous experience with renal patients required.
  • Med Surg experience preferred.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid State of Connecticut Registered Nurse License.
  • BLS required and ACLS within 6 months.
