In partnership with physicians and health systems, the organization delivers high-quality care for patients across a diverse spectrum of medical specialties, including gastroenterology, ophthalmology and orthopedics.Mid-Atlantic Endoscopy Center MidAtlantic Endoscopy is skilled in performing a myriad of digestive procedures, including colonoscopy, esophageal dilation, flexible sigmoidoscopy, upper endoscopy and small bowel enteroscopy.Essential Duties, Tasks and ResponsibilitiesProactively participates as a team member in support of the total endoscopy processOrganizes time, equipment, supplies, and personnel to provide effective and efficient case managementSupervises and directs patient care in the endoscopy roomVerifies patient procedure prior to transport to procedure roomParticipates in time out in procedure roomUses safe surgery check listOrganizes nursing activities efficiently and effectivelyDelegates activities appropriate to the abilities of available staff membersConsiders cost containment by using supplies economically and by managing efficient turnover timeAssists with supplies, drugs, and equipment inventories to maintain stock level and availabilityAddresses patient needs specific to the endoscopy procedureUsing two patient identifiers, identifies the patient and correct procedure, according to policy and procedures and communicates with the healthcare teamReviews patient's medical record and needs to provide continuity of care, collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team; communicates variances appropriately to other healthcare team membersProvides comfort and reassurance to patientMaintains patient's privacy and dignityExplains procedure(s) and plan of care to the patientWorks collaboratively with the healthcare team to prepare the procedure room according to requirements of patient, physician, and procedure to includes, but not be limited to assembling and providing properly functioning equipment, supplies, and instrumentsWorks collaboratively with the surgical/procedure team to verify high level disinfection and/or sterility of instruments and supplies according to policy and procedureAssists with the appropriate and safe positioning of the patient according to patient needs and planned procedure; monitors throughout procedureAdministers medication(s), per order of physicianHandles tissue specimens correctly and accurately according to policy and proceduresLogs specimensMonitors patient condition and maintains accurate logistics and timely documentation per policy and procedureAccurately comprehends and interprets physician orders and direction, following policy and proceduresWorks collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure continuity of patient carePerforms other miscellaneous duties as assignedQualificationsGraduate of an accredited school of nursingCurrent state license to practice as a registered nurseMaintain basic cardiac life support certification and ACLS1 year of experience as a registered nurseEOE Statement: AMSURG is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).
