Registered Nurse Emergency Dept

Overview

Registered Nurses in the Emergency Department play a critical role in delivering patient-centered care. They work collaboratively with the care team, advocate for patients and families, and support organizational goals of excellent patient experience and outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient pain regularly and promotes effective pain management.
• Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s) and documents care in the medical record.
• Responds promptly to patient requests and anticipates and resolves patient needs proactively.
• Teaches patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, side effects, and follow-up measures, using clear, non-technical language.
• Provides instruction on non-medical follow-up measures such as healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes to prepare patients and families for self-management.

Qualifications

• RN license (Registered Nurse) and relevant RN Diploma, Associate Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• NIH Stroke Scale certification within 90 days of employment start date.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification within 1 year of employment start date.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course certification within 6 months of employment start date.
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course or PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification within 90 days of employment start date.
• No travel required.
• Minimum 6 months experience in emergency nursing.
