DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Confirms patient identification.
  2. Checks for physician orders and/or special instructions via the Electronic Medical Records.
  3. Provides special instructions to the family/significant other.
  4. Demonstrates knowledge on heart anatomy using ultrasound imaging techniques, performs echocardiogram testing and reports significant findings to Cardiologist and ordering physician.
  5. Maintains and documents patient information and preliminary findings in log book.
  6. Prepares VCR tapes for cardiologist review and interpretation.
  7. Documents completion of ECHO in the electronic medical records.
  8. Follows medical equipment protocol (i.e., tag/remove broken/clean equipment).
  9. Maintains and orders supplies as needed.
  10. Keeps daily statistics.
  11. Keeps patient immediate environment orderly and clean.
  12. Follows established procedure in securing patients clothing and personal property.
  13. Conforms to policies governing patient's rights and confidentiality of information according to HIPAA Guidelines.
  14. Demonstrates sensitivity to diversity in work place.
  15. Maintains professional competence through participation in continuing education, in-service and self-directed education process.
  16. Conforms to policy governing uniform codes, attendance and punctuality.
  17. Carries out established Infection Control protocols.
  18. Participates in Performance Improvement activities on an ongoing basis.
  19. Participates in Clinical Guidelines process.
  20. Ensures a safe and secure environment free of hazards to reduce the risk of injury to all customers (patients, visitors and staff).
  21. Conforms to current National Patient Safety Goals.
  22. Ensures compliance with yearly mandate.
  23. Participates in team building activities.
  24. Effectively utilizes the electronic as well as the paper medical record.
  25. Maintains clinical competency
  26. Other duties as assigned by the Head/charge Nurse for effective coverage fo the unit (i.e., answer telephones, contact patient via telephones, assist patient's to seats).
Required Skills & Experience:
  1. One (1) year of Registered Echo Technician/Sonographer experience.
  2. Stress testing experience. - preferred
Required Education:
  1. Graduation from High School or in possession of High School Equivalency Diploma.
  2. Successful completion of Ultrasound Echocardiogram Program.
  3. Current BCLS required according to American Heart Association or American Red Cross Standards.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
  1. Registered Diagnostics Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) issued by American Registry for Diagnostic Medicine for Sonographers (ARDMS). OR
  2. Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) issued by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
  3. Registered Diagnostics Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) issued by American Registry for Diagnostic Medicine for Sonographers (ARDMS).
  4. BCLS
  5. Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS)
  6. Registered Diagnostics Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)
Preferred Certifications & Licensure:
  1. BLS.
Shift:
  1. 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
  2. 40/weekly
  3. 5 days/week
