Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)

Overview

Sentara CarePlex Hospital, in Hampton, VA, is hiring a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist. This is a full‑time, day shift position that requires on‑call with a 30‑minute response time. Hours are Monday‑Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., plus approximately 15 days of call per month (about every 3rd or 4th weekend). A sign‑on bonus of up to $10,000 is available for qualified candidates.

Location: Hampton, VA. Shift: First (Days).

Responsibilities

The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist is a highly trained professional who assists physicians in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures such as cardiac catheterizations, angioplasties, and electrophysiology studies. The Specialist operates and monitors advanced imaging and hemodynamic equipment, ensures accurate data collection, and maintains a sterile environment throughout all procedures. Responsibilities include patient preparation, real‑time monitoring, procedural documentation, and post‑procedure care coordination. The Specialist administers medication under the direction of a qualified physician, ensures compliance with all hospital policies, HIPAA regulations, and accreditation standards, participates in on‑call rotation, responds rapidly to emergency cases (including STEMI activations), and contributes to ongoing quality assurance and process improvement initiatives in the cath lab.

Education

• Graduate of a diploma, associate, or bachelor level program in health science (includes, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, or nursing) – Required

Certification/Licensure

• Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) – Required
• BLS – Required
• ACLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire – Required

Experience

• 1 year experience as a Cardiovascular Technician – Required
