Role Description The Regional Organizing Director is a full-time, on-site role based in Lansing, MI. This position oversees organizing efforts across a designated region, focusing on recruiting, training, and supporting student leaders and volunteers to advance youth civic engagement. Day-to-day responsibilities include building and maintaining relationships with campus and community partners, coordinating events and trainings, and developing regional organizing plans aligned with campaign goals. The Regional Organizing Director will manage regional staff or volunteers, track metrics and progress, and report updates to senior leadership. The role also includes creating organizing materials, facilitating leadership development opportunities, and ensuring that organizing activities are inclusive, compliant with organizational policies, and responsive to local needs.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in community or issue-based organizing, particularly with youth or students, and a strong commitment to civic engagement.
- Proven ability to recruit, train, and manage volunteers or staff, including experience coaching emerging leaders and building diverse teams.
- Strong communication and public speaking skills, with the ability to present to groups, lead trainings, and build relationships with stakeholders.
- Solid project and time management skills, including the ability to plan regional campaigns, meet deadlines, and track progress using data and reporting tools.
- Ability to work on-site in Lansing, MI, with flexibility to travel within the region and work evenings or weekends as needed for organizing activities.
- Comfort with digital tools and basic office software; experience with organizing databases or voter contact systems is a plus.
- Understanding of or interest in the democratic process, elections, and youth civic participation; prior political or advocacy campaign experience is beneficial.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent organizing experience, and a demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and non-discriminatory practices in leadership and outreach.
