Regional Medical Scientific Director (Medical Science Liaison, MSL) – Respiratory (COPD)

Responsibilities:

• Build relationships with national/regional Scientific Leaders; provide company-approved medical/scientific information.
• Conduct peer-to-peer discussions; answer scientific questions and direct out-of-scope requests (e.g., grants) to appropriate resources.
• Maintain expert knowledge in COPD/respiratory therapeutic area.
• Upon request: support investigator- and company-sponsored research discussions, identify enrollment/retention barriers, and enhance understanding of research foundations.
• Upon request: recommend study sites/investigators for phase II–IV programs; conduct Site Initiation Visits; collaborate on protocol lead responsibilities; address investigator questions.
• Support scientific congresses/medical meetings; facilitate scientific and data exchange.
• Gather scientific/medical feedback during routine activities.

Required Location/Travel:

• Covers Chicago region (IL, WI, IA, MN, SD). Must reside in territory; travel up to 50%.

Qualifications:

• PhD, PharmD, DNP, DO, or MD.
• Minimum 3 years relevant therapeutic area experience beyond terminal degree (e.g., COPD/Respiratory).

Required Skills/Knowledge:

• Stakeholder management; strong verbal/written communication; ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions.
• Knowledge of FDA, OIG, HIPAA, and other pharma ethical/regulatory requirements.
• Organize/prioritize in changing environments; Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, OneNote); familiarity with virtual meeting platforms.

Preferred:

• 3+ years Respiratory (COPD) experience; field-based medical/research experience; scientific publication record.
