The Regional Director of Operations holds full accountability for the performance and operation of a $120–160 million business, consisting of 5–9 branch locations specializing in HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing services within a defined geographic territory. This leadership role is responsible for driving operational excellence, maximizing financial outcomes, ensuring customer satisfaction, maintaining safety and compliance standards, and fostering employee engagement across all branches. The Regional Director of Operations acts as the critical link between corporate leadership and local branch teams, ensuring that regional operations are aligned with company-wide strategic objectives and performance expectations.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Multi-Branch Operational Leadership
  • Owns the performance and operational execution of 5–9 branch operations across multiple cities, ensuring consistent compliance of operational standards, safety protocols, and service quality across all locations.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor performance, identify challenges, and provide on-the-ground support.
  • Accepts complete financial liability for a region with approximately $120M to $160M in revenue, driving revenue growth, gross margin improvement, cost management, and EBITDA performance across all branches.
  • Strategic Growth Execution
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to define and drive regional growth strategies—including market expansion, new service line rollouts, and capacity planning—aligned with overall company objectives.
  • Guide and support Branch GMs in building high-performance sales cultures that maximize technician productivity, drive service agreement penetration, and improve revenue per call.
  • Leadership Development & Talent Management
  • Hire, mentor, and evaluate Branch General Managers. Build leadership bench strength, ensuring strong succession planning and a high-performance, accountable culture across the region.
  • Promote retention and engagement of field and office personnel.
  • Performance Monitoring & KPI Accountability
  • Establish clear performance benchmarks and regularly review each branch’s metrics (e.g., revenue, margin, CSAT, job completion rates). Take corrective action as needed to ensure targets are met.
  • Drive consistency by implementing and enforcing company-wide best practices in operations, sales process, technician development, customer service, and administrative functions.
  • Ensure all operations follow federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA and environmental standards.
  • Promote a culture of safety and ensure training and reporting standards are met.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Serve as a key liaison between branches and corporate departments (Finance, HR, Marketing, IT, etc.) to align regional execution with company-wide initiatives and systems.
  • Champion company values, foster engagement, and lead through change—especially during growth phases, system rollouts, M&A integrations, or restructuring efforts.

Requirements:

  • Proven track record in operational leadership, P&L management, and team development.
  • Strong financial acumen and data-driven decision-making.
  • Well organized, results oriented with superior business skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and leadership skills with the ability to help others navigate change and uncertainty towards a desired future vision.

  • Ability to travel regularly within the region.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • 5–10 years of multi-unit or regional management experience in the trades (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, or related industries).
  • Prior senior leadership in a home services company.
