The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, affiliated with New York City Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst and New York City Health + Hospitals/Queens, is seeking a Regional Chairperson of Pathology. This exciting opportunity involves leading a comprehensive Pathology Department that offers a full spectrum of services, including regional anatomic pathology, cytopathology, autopsy pathology, and extensive in-house immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization. Practice Info
- Pathology Department offers a full spectrum of services including Regional Anatomic Pathology (all subspecialties of Surgical Pathology, Cytopathology, Autopsy Pathology), extensive Inhouse Immunohistochemistry and In Situ Hybridization, and outside referrals for Molecular Pathology.
- Serves the Cancer Centers at Elmhurst and Queens Hospitals.
- Each hospital has its own Clinical Pathology Laboratory, including Blood Bank, Chemistry and Hematology, with modern state of the art instrumentation.
- Elmhurst also counts with a fully equipped UpToDate PCR, Mass Spectrometry and culture-based Microbiology Laboratory.
- The Pathology Department is staffed by 10 pathologists with diverse subspecialty expertise, active in daily sign out, intradepartmental daily multiheaded microscope conference, medical student teaching and various weekly multidisciplinary Tumor Boards.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversee operations of the Pathology Department including supervision of staff and with respect to patient safety and quality of operations.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements of AABB, NYDOH, CAP and other regulatory agencies.
- Actively involved in Pathologists' professional development, retention and recruitment.
Compensation
- Compensation range from $325,000 to $325,000 (not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits).
Requirements
- MD/DO degree.
- Board certified in Anatomic Pathology or Combined Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.
- Valid New York State License, DEA and Medicaid number.
- Strong clinical abilities, teaching experience, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Prior management/leadership positions and experience with academic medical centers and/or public health systems are preferred.
