Objective of role

Richmond Work Match employment brokerage service for the London borough of Richmond upon Thames and Wandsworth council is looking for a motivated business engagement and employment officer to join our successful team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a background in recruitment business and/or development, who enjoys building relationships, generating opportunities and delivering results.

About the role

You will:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers across Richmond upon Thames, to generate vacancies, identify employment opportunities for local residents.
  • Screen, assess and match suitable candidates to provide targeted support to residents throughout the recruitment process.
  • Work collaboratively with employers, training providers and partner organisations to identify candidates and clients.
  • Maintain accurate, high‑quality records and performance metrics on both residents and clients in real time.
  • Deliver against agreed performance targets and service outcomes and visibly contribute to local economic growth priorities.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of end‑to‑end recruitment lifecycle (business development, vacancy generation, candidate sourcing, placement).
  • Understanding of employer needs, workforce planning, and sector‑specific recruitment challenges.
  • Proven track record in recruitment or business development, identifying and winning new business/clients with evidence of generating opportunities and successful placements.
  • Experience managing and growing employer accounts, including repeat business and long‑term partnerships.
  • Ability to respond effectively and efficiently to any number of tight deadlines within a pressurised environment.
