Job Title: Human Resources Recruiter (5 month contract)

Department: Human Resources

Reports To: HR Managers


Job Summary:

The Human Resources Recruiter is responsible for the recruiting, screening, and facilitating the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions across the Sunrise organization. Responsibilities also included in full cycle recruitment are administrative functions such as entering new hire paperwork into the HRIS system (PeopleSoft), scheduling and conducting new hire orientation, and obtaining first week training schedules.


The Human Resources Generalist maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in Human Resources, talent management, and employment law.


Essential Job Functions:

Ensure the organizations compliance with local, state and federal regulations.

Performance of the essential functions of this position requires the HR Recruiter to possess the required skills and education listed and to perform these functions in accordance with all ShopRite Service Priorities (Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency). These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:


Recruitment/Sourcing

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for maintaining appropriate staffing levels in all stores by developing and implementing an effective recruitment strategy. Specific duties include:


  1. Collaborating with HR, departments and store managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  2. Ensure adequate coverage across all shifts, utilizing staffing guidelines whenever possible.
  3. Initiate proactive recruitment strategies that create a competitive advantage, i.e. job fairs, recruiting websites, NJ Workforce Development (DOL), Social Media, school job boards, etc.
  4. Manage the online application process to ensure an adequate flow of qualified candidates.
  5. Maintain company recruitment advertising programs and establish effective use of in-store recruitment tools; i.e., display units, bag stuffers, posters and window signs, etc.

Interviewing/Hiring

The Human Resource Generalist is also responsible for maintaining an effective and legally compliant screening/interviewing process that ensures fair and equal treatment of all candidates in compliance with company standards and legal requirements. Specific duties include:


  1. Pre-Screen all applicants for Sunrise ShopRite Supermarkets, working collaboratively with Store Level HR Managers to determine best fit and issue job offers.
  2. Conducts interviews while working with HR team to determine candidacy fit and issue offers.
  3. Utilize the company established interview guides with applicants.
  4. Understand and communicate all hiring information which is critical to the candidate’s success:
  • Available positions
  • Schedule requirements (work week/hours)
  • Starting wages
  • Scheduled increases
  • Company benefits
  • Job duties
  • Physical requirements
  • Dress code
  • Union affiliations, initial fees and dues
  • Overtime and Sunday pay
  1. Conduct New Hire Orientation


Administration

  1. Handles employment related inquiries from applicants.
  2. Maintains the hiring feature in the online applicant tracking system.
  3. Administration of new Hire process including New-Hire paperwork and training materials


Required Skills and Education:

The minimum required qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:


  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in HR or Business Administration; or 5 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • SHRM or HRCI preferred but not required.
  • Excellent public speaking, strong verbal and written communications skills with demonstrated ability to teach a group new concepts or process.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Knowledge of the applicable local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations, as well as union contracts.
  • Must be proficient in HR applications, i.e. Kronos Workforce Acquisition and Time and Attendance and Oracle (PeopleSoft) or comparable HRIS systems.
