Purpose of Position
To provide clerical/secretarial support and function as relief for all other clerical positions.
Description
- 1. Greet patients and obtain demographic and insurance information and register patient into system.
- 2. Answer telephone in a professional, courteous and pleasant manner in less than four rings following departmental policy for scripting. Directs calls to appropriate persons and/ or departments taking information and/or accurate messages.
- 3. Obtain legally acceptable general consents to bill third parties.
- 4. Answer routine questions including but not limited to departmental policies, operations and procedures.
- 5. Verify and accurately enter radiology orders in the radiology information system.
- 6. Register patient using the electronic registration system, scan identification, license and appropriate forms needed for the appointment.
- 7. Verify patient appointments, provide necessary forms to patient when appropriate and direct/escort patient to proper examination area or notify appropriate area of patient arrival.
- 8. Copy and/or provide radiology record information to outside facilities and Physicians under established guidelines e. g., disc with images.
- 9. Maintain harmonious and cooperative relations with fellow employees, medical staff, patients and guests.
- 10. Maintains confidentiality regarding patient information and center matters in accordance to HIPAA regulations.
- 11. Accept and process payments from patients, as necessary, which may include but not be limited to, co-pays, deductibles, balances due, etc. Provide receipts for payments received.
- 12. Verifies benefits utilizing insurance verification system. Confirms Authorizations/Referrals and enters into insurance authorization field.
- 13. Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers.
- 14. Perform other work related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
- High School graduate or GED.
- Successful passage of basic Medical Terminology course OR successful passage of the CCH Medical Terminology exam.
- Minimum six (6) months experience in patient registration, admitting, nurse's aide, medical secretary, medical receptionist, or similar position.
