ReceptionistAnswers the telephone in a courteous manner and directs calls to the appropriate destinations; records accurate and complete messages when necessary; receives and receipts deliveries and donations; greets and announces visitors and clients; provides general information about The Salvation Army's operations and services; performs routine clerical work such as typing, spreadsheets, and filing.This job description should not be interpreted as all inclusive. The incumbent may be requested to perform job-related responsibilities and tasks other than those stated in this job description.Answers the telephone and transfers calls to the appropriate destinations; response to callers' questions and provides the accurate information.Records accurate and complete messages; ensures the timely and accurate distribution of messages.Receives, greets, and announces visitors in a courteous and tactful manner; provides assistance to callers and visitors by answering questions and providing instructions and referrals; screens sales representatives soliciting to The Salvation Army.Notifies proper individuals when visitors or clients have arrived; ensures that visitors and clients have signed in.Assists in maintaining order and decorum in the reception area.Adds/deletes names and extensions to the phone list to ensure the list remains up-to-date daily; proofread telephone lists for mistakes before list is printed.Receives and prepares receipts for donations, packages, express mail, and items delivered to the lobby; notifies proper individuals of item arrival by telephone and/or email; follows The Salvation Army procedures in the handling of money.Keeps track as best as possible of which Officers and employees are in the office at any given time.Provides assistance with special or seasonal projects such as Christmas, angel tree, etc.Makes sure phone system is put on night mode at 4 PM each evening and video monitor is turned off.Performs other related work as required.Perform other duties as assigned.Telephone, Computer, Microsoft Office, General Office EquipmentAbility to direct phone calls to the appropriate person or destinations.Ability to respond to and assist callers and visitors in a courteous and tactful manner.Ability to screen calls in a courteous and tactful manner.Ability to work with people and to provide assistance in a calm, courteous, and tactful manner.Ability to record accurate and complete messages.Ability to perform clerical support work while operating the switchboard.Ability to respond to emergencies in a calm and effective manner.Ability to project a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.High school diploma or G.E.D required, and two years of progressively responsible experience working in a major firm with telephone switchboard responsibilities, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.Ability to meet attendance requirements.Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.Ability to operate a telephone and/or switchboard.Ability to sort documents alphabetically and numerically.Ability to perform routine mathematical computations.Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomfort associated with changes in weather or discomfort associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
