Reading Specialist
Must possess a Master's Degree and be eligible for a Virginia Teaching License with an endorsement as a Reading Specialist
Have at least three years of successful classroom teaching experience
Have experience in lesson planning and curriculum development
Have experience and expertise in using technology in education, including the use of Google Drive for Instruction, collaboration, and course work
Have effective written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with teachers, parents/families, and administrative staff
Demonstrate the ability to be dependable and punctual
Reports to: Building Administration
Terms of employment: Teacher's Work Calendar and benefits as defined in the Teacher's negotiated agreement; these positions are being funded using CARES/ESSER funds during the term of time they are provided
FLSA: Exempt
Essential tasks/job functions:
Direct Instruction of Students – will provide direct instruction in the areas of Reading and Writing for identified groups and individual students
Identify literature for use in all content areas in support of the curriculum
Provide curriculum support and training for all teachers and continuous staff development that support school division initiatives
Collaborate with and coach teachers on the use of assessment data to plan instruction; analyze school literacy data and plan for future literacy needs
Provide ongoing training and follow-up in the use of assessment tools
Participate in collaborative instructional planning
Assess students using a variety of measures to determine appropriate placement and specific instructional needs
Participate in parent meetings, IEP meetings, etc. to provide instruction suggestions
Work collaboratively with the building administration to review data to develop and assist in building level professional development
Perform other duties as assigned
Salary: $50,055 - $72,741 Annually; Commensurate with experience and pro-rated to start date
